AEONTS announced 2Q/2016 a net profit of 572 MB and 1.60 Baht Interim Dividend

Bangkok, October 7, 2016 - Mr.Kiyoyasu Asanuma, Managing Director of AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) Public Company Limited (AEONTS) – Thailand’s consumer finance business leader – recently announced the reviewed consolidated financial results for the 2nd quarter ended August 31, 2016 with the net profit of 572 million baht or 2.29 baht per share. For the first half, the Company recorded 1,088 million baht of net profit or 4.35 baht per share.

In the 2nd quarter FY2016, the Company reported revenues of 4,447 million baht, decreasing by 0.3% y-y and increase 3% q-q. For 6-month period, total revenues were 8,776 million baht, increasing by 2% y-y, which generated from loans 52%, credit card 37%, others 9%, and hire purchase 2%, respectively. However, if we exclude gain on sale of written off receivables in Q2/2015, our revenues will increase 5% from the same period of last year. Total expenses in Q2/2016 recorded at 3,728 million baht, increasing by 5% y-y and posted at 7,400 million baht, increasing by 6% y-y for 6-month period. As a result, the Company recorded a net profit at 572 million baht in Q2/2016 and for 6-month period net profit was 1,088 million baht.

In the first half year of 2016, The Thai economic expanded to 3.5%, compared with 3.2% expansion in the first quarter of 2016. This was mainly rose from the continued expansion in public expenditure and tourism as well as the improving in the private consumption and a rise of 3.8% in household consumption, improving from 2.3% in the previous quarter. However, The Company has focused on increasing customer base and continued to privilege promotion to AEON cardholders. In addition, the Company has collaborated with Major Cineplex Group PLC. and Thai Airways launched AEON M GEN Visa Card and AEON Royal Orchid Plus Platinum JCB Card respectively in order to enhance the customers’ satisfaction and motivate their spending. Moreover, The Company expanded more service channels to provide convenience to customers and also saved the Company’s operation cost. In September 2016, the Company joined with Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) and launched cashing channel “Your cash” service through more than 10,000 SCB’s ATMs nationwide for AEON member card. Therefore, AEON members can utilize the revolving loans service through many service channels; besides AEONTS ATMs, other major bank ATMs i.e. Kasikorn, Thanachart, Bangkok Bank, Krungsri, Krungthai, Government Saving Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, and Counter Service through 7-11 nationwide and AEON customers can transfer and receive cash through Thailand Post Office nationwide.

As at August 31, 2016, The Company’s credit cards and member cards were 7.7 million cards. Covering networks nationwide, the Company has expand its network to 114 branches, 467 ATMs and more than 17,200 member dealers to provide quality financial services to AEON cardholders.

In addition, AEONTS announced interim dividend payment of 1.60 baht per share for the first half of 2016 performance with payout ratio of 36.8%. The dividend will be paid to the shareholders on November 7, 2016. The record date and the closing date of the shareholders registration book shall be October 21, 2016 and October 25, 2016, respectively.
